Privacy Policy
Effective Date: May 3, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how VidDM handles information when you use the VidDM Chrome extension and website. VidDM is designed to record short videos locally in your browser and attach them to X direct messages only when you choose to attach them.
1. What VidDM Does
VidDM lets you record camera, screen, and screen plus camera videos from an X direct message. The extension can also burn selected overlays into the recording, such as the VidDM watermark or sender and recipient avatars, unless you hide those overlays before recording.
2. Local Recording
VidDM records and processes video in your browser. We do not upload recordings, audio, screenshots, message text, or avatar images to a VidDM server. The finished video is attached to the current X DM through the local file input, and you decide whether to send it in X.
3. Information Stored By The Extension
VidDM uses chrome.storage.local to remember your last selected recording source. This data stays in your browser unless you clear extension data or uninstall the extension.
4. Browser Permissions
VidDM uses browser media APIs for camera, microphone, and screen capture when you request those features. Chrome controls the permission prompts. VidDM also uses the Chrome storage permission to remember local preferences.
5. X Page Access
VidDM runs as a content script on X.com and Twitter.com so it can add the recorder button to the DM composer, read visible DM header avatars for optional overlay rendering, and attach the recorded video to the DM file input.
6. No Sale Or Advertising Use
We do not sell user data, use recordings for advertising, or build browsing profiles.
